Bewildered, Breathless and Not Grounded

I found this book very interesting to read. I did not find it disturbing or brilliant. Anyone who uses the internet, watches television and videos and has been jet lagged from global travel will find this an accurate account of contemporary post-modern man's global lifestyle It has the same fun reading style and spirit as T.Friedman's "The Lexus and The Olive Tree" but with a psychosocial take rather than an economic social view. This work is not grounded in biological science and the generalizations he does make from quantum science are skewed though standard post-modern mantra as far as I know. Scientists may not relate to nature or reality directly as he argues but they do relate to mathematical inferences about nature that allow them to predict with a high degree accuracy how nature works. Otherise I wouldnt' be writing this on the computer. But then Gergen himself says that the book may be just fiction or invention not a building of ideas on top of ideas. Readers interested in the topic of self-consciousness could balance Gergen's argument with A. Damasio's "The Feeling of What Happens" and G. Edelman's "Bright Air and Brilliant Fire".Both of these works attempt to ground consciousness in the body.

Accessible introduction to post-modernism

While many books on post-modernism obfuscate themselves in philosophical mumbo jumbo and self-referential exercises, this is a very straightforward introduction to the post-modern condition. It is also a great introduction to social construction, and the idea meaning (including the meaning of our selves) is a socially created truth rather than an absolute. Unlike a lot of books by academics, Gergen has crafeted a very readable book, that I not only learned from but enjoyed immensly.

This is an excellent book for anyone interested in the forces shaping the concept of "self" in our post-modern society (or for anyone who thinks that he or she is above being shaped!) It is easy to read, very enlightening, and very well documented. I highly recommend it!

Great system for increasing reading speed and study skills!

For the first time I have been able to increase my reading speed after taking numerous "speedreading" courses. The phenomenal aspect of The Key to Study Skills is the authors teach their system of study skills in a clear, easy to follow manner. By actually doing the exercises and being persistent, I have been amazed at my ability to remember what I am studying. I have "gone back to school" and therefore was looking for a way to get through the voluminous reading assignments. Thankfully I found Dr. Lev and Anna's book. I would suggest this book for anyone who wishes to increase their ability to study well, remember what you study, increase your and reading speed.

By far the best book on speed reading and memory improvement. I became interested in speed reading a few months ago after taking Superlearner Udemy course. The course itself is very comprehensive and useful, but I think that this book contains more detailed examples and guidelines.

Anyone who is struggling with their school or work should read this book. You won't regret your time invested.

A Secret To Bear is a Bbw shifter romance that captures your imagination in a brilliant way! Scarlett enters this little town in need of some answers. She ends up being wanted and desperately needed by a bear shifter named Max . She has no idea what's happening or why but she doesn't understand why he can't get enough of her. She has no idea he's not like her..but things start to unravel quickly for them both with danger and secrets pushing past there brink . If you like shifter type books you'll really enjoy this first installment of this new sexy series I received this book in exchange for an honest review

I received this book free in exchange for my honest review. I love reading books by Karolyn James, but had a hard time finishing this book. I don't know if it was the lack of action or how quick the h/h became sexually engaged. I'm not a prude and enjoy good, hot sex scenes but the hero had his fingers in the heroine honeypot way too soon for me. I'm glad most people enjoyed the book because I really hate to write a negative review, but I had to write one because that's what I agree to do.

Scarlet went to Strykerford to get answers about her father's murder. On the way into town two bears ran across the road in front of her making her skid off the road. Which caused her to not only get a flat tire but twist her ankle. Max and his brother Austin stood next to her car to help her, and Max was a beautiful and big man. But being a curvy woman men didn't want to date her, they wanted to make fun of her. When Max helped her up, she felt wave of heat flow through her body like she had never experienced before, their chemistry is electrifying. Max knew as soon as he held her she was his fated mate, how will Scarlet react when she finds out? Will she take off screaming, or accept their connection? Scarlet's father always told her to never fear a bear, bears that walked the ground who had fierce minds and hearts of men, but could she really trust that? Scarlet and Max have a shared past, but she has to remember on her own terms. Would she remember in time before their past returns to harm them, or can they figure this out together? You'll have to read to find out, but it'll be worth your time to do so. These writers are awesome on their own, but together they're superb! This is Book 1 of this series, I'm excited to read any others they come out with. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
