Kalamazoo for Days

Kalamazoo is raw, witty, and visceral. Winch writes with such passion that you can't help but be transported into the world he gives us: the world of a boy coming of age in the 70s in the funky, weird, and sometimes disguisting middle of this country. The antics of the narrator are often hilarious, and occasionally disturbing and even embarassing. You find yourself asking, over and over, "but WHY would you do that???" And yet...you can't help but love him just a little. This is an absolutely enjoyable and entertaining read.

A Great Experience

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Kalamazoo." The writing was gritty yet beautiful, and it pulled me right into the summer days of the narrator. Winch write from the heart and has a knack for opening up our eyes to the beauty and devastation around us. There were points that were touching and poignant, and others that were...maybe a little gross. A great read, nonetheless, and I highly recommend it.

raw and heartfelt

Some people really know how to tell a story, and Winch certainly has that gift. You do not need to be from the Midwest, or have grown up in the 70's, to appreciate Winch's writing - it is raw and heartfelt. I read the zines, and was stoked to see it in book form... there are two others now, and I cannot wait to read them!
